The United States Department of Justice filed in court a multi-million dollar settlement resolving its lawsuit against Uber Technologies Inc. The lawsuit alleged that Uber was in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act by charging wait-time fees to individuals with disabilities who may need additional time finding and getting into their car. Under the agreement, Uber will compensate riders with disabilities who were charged wait-time fees due to their disability. Additionally, Uber has committed to waving wait-time charges for riders who certify that they, or a person they frequently travel with, have a disability and need additional time to get into their car due to the disability.
