USDOJ FILES SETTLEMENT WITH UBER REGARDING DISCRIMINATION/OVERCHARGING

The United States Department of Justice filed in court a multi-million dollar settlement resolving its lawsuit against Uber Technologies Inc. The lawsuit alleged that Uber was in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act by charging wait-time fees to individuals with disabilities who may need additional time finding and getting into their car. Under the agreement, Uber will compensate riders with disabilities who were charged wait-time fees due to their disability. Additionally, Uber has committed to waving wait-time charges for riders who certify that they, or a person they frequently travel with, have a disability and need additional time to get into their car due to the disability.   1. Thanks Odysseus. I remember the day when an Uber driver passed us by when we waited with my father in a wheel chair. We had parked at Nina and Jon’s and headed to the Kennedy center. I was floored!
