Dialing 1-800 (#-#-#-#-#-#-#) may render unexpected consequences. Take today, for example, when I dialed a hotel chain’s customer service number to inquire as to the availability of shuttle service from Atlanta to one of the suburbs. The sound on the other line was that of a rooster heralding the hour; it serenaded me five or more times during the conversation.
The rooster provided a valuable service, reminding me of nature’s closeness to our psyche. The human, on the other hand, provided little or no service as to my inquiry.
Perhaps the rooster was trying to tell me something.
